L.A. to London
As told by Nina Oates

Wow, a whole page just about me!

"Life is about the journey, not the destination"
I have always had a passion for sunshine and beaches! Growing up in a small town in Ohio, I always knew I was destined to move to a place where most people only vacation... the beach!! When I was 18, I moved to Myrtle Beach, SC (where we vacationed every year as i was growing up) and went to college to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Promotion. I crammed all of my classes into 2 days a week in order to maximize beach time. Any day of the week you could show up to 64th Ave and it would be filled with Coastal kids drinking, playing cornhole, and partying on the sand!

After college, I needed new beaches, and a new adventure so I migrated a little further south to Jacksonville Beach, FL. For the next year of my life I would go on to meet some beautiful people, work for the NFL and of course spend lots of quality time on the beach!

For a couple of years I struggled on my pursuit of happiness. Feeling that I had more to gain back in South Carolina I left Florida after a year and moved back. It had been 8 years since I left home for college, and I was jstarting to feel homesick for the first time. So, I decided it was time to go back home to Ohio to spend some time with family. My brothers had several children by this point so it was important to me that they know who their Aunt Nina is. Although I was enjoying the quality time with family, I already had a new destination on my mind and I knew I needed to start planning my next adventure!

Ever since I can even remember, I always had a burning desire to move to the west coast! After a little research on the different cities, it was very clear to me that I belonged in Los Angeles! I started planning the move in August 2014 and was en route in November! When I arrived, it was everything I always imagined it would be. Beautiful beaches with mountains surrounding the coast, hundreds and hundreds of hiking trails, kayaking, paddle boarding, outdoor adventure, healthy food, healthy people... it was perfect!

So, you're probably wondering, if it was so darn perfect then why in the world would I ever leave? All of the times that I moved from state to state, I was doing it for new adventure, new experiences, to meet new people and try new things. In each move, I pretty much always knew that it was going to be a temporary destination. Because for me its not about the destination, it's about the journey and all the things that you encounter and learn along the way.

Sometimes it just takes one person and one night to change the path of your journey. To learn more about my story and how I ended up in London, I invite you to read The Night I Met My Favorite Human. Sometimes there is no good explanation as to why people make the decisions they do other than, it just felt like the right thing to do :)
